During this workshop, you'll learn how to blend and paint with underglazes to achieve watercolour effects on ceramics, taught by local plein air mountain artist, Nikki Frumkin of Drawn to High Places.

This class is open to novices and experienced ceramicists and those age 16 and older.

During this workshop, you will create a simple handbuilt dish or spoon rest, which will become your canvas. Experienced ceramicists are welcome to bring their own leather-hard piece, if preferred. You will then learn how to draw a mountainscape and plan a colour palette. Using watercolour techniques for ceramics underglazes, you will translate your design onto your ceramic piece and learn how to bring definition to your design with hand-carving techniques inspired by drawing (I.e., “sgraffito”).

After the class, we will dry your piece, glaze it in a clear glaze, and fire for you. You can pick up your finished work 2-3 weeks after the workshop.

Class is held on Sunday, Nov 9, 11am-1:30pm, at 853 Hiawatha Pl S in Seattle.

If you need to cancel your purchase, we can offer a full refund less a $15 restock fee up to 7 days prior to the first class.

This class is taught by Nikki Frumkin (@drawntohighplaces on Instagram).
