This 8-week class series will take your wheel throwing skills to the next level.
During the course, you’ll learn several intermediate skills, including centring and throwing larger volumes of clay, throwing repetitions of the same form, and making closed forms, jars, lids, and ultimately, a teapot! The class will cover the use of various tools to progress your practice, including callipers, heat gun, and more. After the course, we will fire your glazed work, which you will be able to pick up 2-3 weeks after the final class.
This course is open to intermediate potters who have taken at least 1 introductory pottery course before. You should be able to center 1+ lbs of clay and throw an even, well balanced cylinder. If you are still working on these fundamentals, consider taking our Beginner Wheel course to continue building your skills. Students must be age 16+.
Class is held weekly on Tuesdays from 6-8:30pm at 853 Hiawatha Pl S in Seattle. The first class is on Sept 15, and will run for 8 successive weeks, ending on Nov 3. There are no makeup classes, but each class will start with a brief review of the prior week’s content. Outside of class, students are granted access to the studio 10am-10pm, Monday to Sunday. Class fee includes 1 bag of clay and firing of up to 8 pieces. Students may choose to buy more clay and/or have additional pieces fired for a small fee ($5 per piece).
If you need to cancel your purchase, we can offer a full refund less a $25 restock fee up to 14 days prior to the first class and 50% refund within 14 days of the start of class.
This class is taught by Arni Gagnidez (@arni.g.ceramics on Instagram).
