We will cover 3 core skillsets: Increasing the efficiency of your throwing, working with larger volumes of clay, and two-part throwing. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eThis class is open to intermediate ceramicists. \u003c\/strong\u003eStudents should be able to confidently and consistently throw a 1 lb cylinder, but you do not need to be experienced with throwing large volumes of clay. This course will help you increase your own personal ceiling, whether you’re starting at 1 lb or 10 lbs! Students must be age 16+.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSession 1 will focus on \u003cb\u003eincreasing height\u003c\/b\u003e using a clay weight that you’re comfortable with:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003e\n\u003cspan\u003e\u003c\/span\u003eIncreasing efficiency during throwing \u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003ePulling technique for increased height and consistent wall thickness\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSession 2 will focus on working with \u003cb\u003elarger volumes of clay\u003c\/b\u003e:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eSpiral wedging\u003cspan class=\"Apple-converted-space\"\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\n\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eCentring larger volumes of clay\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003ePulling technique for moving larger volumes of clay \u003cbr\u003e\n\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSession 3 will focus on \u003cb\u003eshaping \u003c\/b\u003eforms:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eShaping and refining taller and larger forms, with focus on shoulder, rims, and bulbous forms\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eUsing ribs effectively\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSession 4 will focus on throwing larger using the \u003cstrong\u003etwo-part method\u003c\/strong\u003e:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eThrowing sturdy cylinders and preparing them for joining\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eJoining two cylinders by flipping one onto the other and combining them into a single form\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eShaping and refining the final two-part piece\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSession 5 will be an \u003cstrong\u003eopen work session\u003c\/strong\u003e where students can practice with feedback from the instructor.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSession 6 will allow for \u003cstrong\u003eglazing \u003c\/strong\u003eof your pieces.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eClass is held weekly on Thursdays, 6:00pm-8:30pm, at 853 Hiawatha Pl S in Seattle. Classes will be held on Jan 14, 21, 28, Feb 4, 11 and 18. There are no makeup classes, but each class will start with a brief review of the prior week’s content. Outside of class, students are granted unlimited \u003cstrong\u003eopen studio access\u003c\/strong\u003e 10am-10pm, Monday to Sunday. Class fee includes 1 bag of clay and firing of\u003cspan\u003e up to 6\u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e pieces.
