This workshop by \u003ca href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/saubhagyasart?igsh=mwi3btz1nw00dnz5ca==\"\u003eSaubhagya Shrestha\u003c\/a\u003e will cover several methods for altering your wheel-thrown pottery both on and off the wheel. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eThis class is open to intermediate ceramicists. \u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cspan\u003eYou should be able to center 2+ lbs of clay and throw an even, well balanced cylinder. \u003c\/span\u003eStudents must be age 16+.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOver there sessions, you will learn a handful of techniques for altering your wheel thrown work, including twists, divots, shifts, insets, darts, and crackle (using sodium silicate).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSession 1 will focus on throwing forms and\u003cstrong\u003e on-wheel alteration\u003c\/strong\u003e:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eRefresher on throwing techniques for tall cylinders\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eWet-altering forms to create spirated ridges, divots, and crumple\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSession 2 will focus on \u003cstrong\u003ealtering leather-hard vessels\u003c\/strong\u003e:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eCutting and joining leather-hard pots to create shifted forms and insets\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSession 3 will focus on \u003cstrong\u003esurface alteration\u003c\/strong\u003e:\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eCrackle surfaces using sodium silicate\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003cli\u003eSoft surface alteration using slips\u003c\/li\u003e\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBetween sessions and for two weeks after the last class, students are granted unlimited \u003cstrong\u003eopen studio \u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eaccess \u003c\/strong\u003efrom 10am-10pm everyday. Students can use open studio to glaze your pieces (we will not have a designated class for glazing). Class fee includes 1 bag of clay and firing of up to 3 pieces. Students may choose to buy more clay and\/or have additional pieces fired for a small fee ($5 per piece). You can pick up your finished work 2-3 weeks after the you've glazed them. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eClass is held from 6:00pm-8:30pm on Wednesdays at 853 Hiawatha Pl S in Seattle.
